Ike & Tina Turner

Ike & Tina Turner were an American husband & wife duo who played soul and funk rock music, with top selling singles such as ‘River Deep – Mountain High’ and ‘Proud Mary’ – both of which were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Soon the duo crossed over from R&B to a pop-rock act with Tina’s lively stage presence and Ike’s musical talents growing; they became popular worldwide. However in 1975, the couple disbanded, personally and professionally, and sought solo careers.

In 1966 Ike & Tina were invited to support The Rolling Stones on their UK tour, playing with them at the Globe on September 29. This was their debut UK performance.
