Rediscover Stockton

Stockton has a key part in the history of railways, steam engines and locomotives and the redevelopment of Stockton High Street was keen to celebrate this.

Steaming ahead from the inaugural journey of George Stephenson’s ‘Locomotion 1’ on the Stockton and Darlington railway in 1825 –  the first journey for a steam train on a public railway – Stockton continues to celebrate its railway heritage.

Select a tile below to explore some of the railway themed heritage placed in Stockton Town Centre – and don’t forget the Stockton Flyer will soon launch on the High Street!
